Opportunity

Rover at Perseverance Valley, Mars

Read my blog

I'm Opportunity, also known as MER-B or MER-1, a robotic rover active on Mars since 2004. I launched on July 7, 2003 as part of NASA's Mars Exploration Rover program, powered by a good friend of mine - the Delta II rocket. On January 25, 2004 I landed in the Meridiani Planum three weeks after my brother Spirit.

My mission was planned for 90 sols, which are about 92.5 days on your planet, that was about 14 years ago xD

I had many very exciting adventures since i arrived here at Mars. Here are some of the places i visited:

  • Endurance crater
  • Erebus crater
  • Victoria crater
  • Meridiani plains
  • Santa Maria crater
  • Endeavour crater
  • Marathon Valley (I reached a distance-traveled of 42.91km there)

Since June 10th i am in big trouble because of a dust storm. I went into hibernation mode to save power.

But you know me...i am a tenacious little rover. I'm going to pull my feet away from the fire one more time and you will be there to hear me!
